WALKTHROUGH – CHAPTER 2
Talk to the elf and play a game of dice. Vincent will appear and explain how you can earn your freedom. You have to win a fist fight against another prisoner. Talk to Vincent again when you’re done, and Jethro will give you a silver sword and two potions (Cat and Blizzard).
Go through the floor grate to the sewers. You will meet Siegfried, who is also hunting the cockatrice. You can choose to let him join you (and then later he will give you access to the Dike) or go on your own (and you will find him guarding the hospital). Let him come along, since he holds a torch and that saves you a potion. Ask him about cockatrices to get new journal entries.
Follow the map and go to the cockatrice’s nest. Use fast style and Aard when it’s about to strike you. You get a trophy head and a Sephirah. Follow Siegfried to the exit and receive a key. Open the gate and some bandits will attack you. Talk to Siegfried again and leave to the Temple Quarter.
The dectective Siegfried mentioned lives just as you come up the stairs from the sewers. Go inside and talk to him. You have to pay 100 orens to hear what he has to say. You can rest here. When you leave, you are attacked by a group of bandits.
Walking around outside between the dike gate and Raymond’s house (daytime only) there is a woman named Gossip. Talk to her, seems she’s heard a lot of rumors about this witcher guy and is very interested in getting to know him better. Bring her a pair of gloves to get her card.
Talk to Bootblack and pay him to shine your shoes. You can ask him a bunch of questions about Vizima.
Go straight across from Raymond’s House and down some stairs to the slums, where you will find the Hairy Bear Inn and a notice board. Pick up the contracts, and leave your belongings with the inkeeper, since you have to go back for your old things in the jail. Go to the back room to find Rammsmeat and Coleman (if you killed the elves taking Haren’s cargo). Talk to Coleman to learn about Fisstech, and have a chat with Rammsmeat. They will only be there at night. Talk to Butter Bean about fist fighting, 75 orens to participate. You can pick one from three rewards: a golden necklace, 150 orens or two bottles of Mandrake Cordial.

Walk past the Hospital area, towards the jail. In your way, you will find Thaler’s house. Go inside and talk to him about Berengar’s sword and belongings. Ask if he plays poker to advance that quest. In the jail, talk to Vincent and hand in the cockatrice head. Talk to Jethro and take your things from the depository. You will also get a Svarog Rune Stone. Talk to Jethro again about the Salamandra and something missing from your things. You get a quest to bring back some Fisstech to Jethro, and learn about the Hairy Bear and Golan Vivaldi.
Since you have your things back, go to the Hairy Bear and talk to the inkeeper about Haren’s parcel. Talk to Coleman in the back room about the lost parcel. Ask if he needs a witcher, and he will send you to a house near the dike gate. Buy some Fisstech from him for Jethro. If you didn’t kill the elves, this quest will be available from Conrad, who also hangs out in the inn at night, and wants you to get some wine from that house’s basement. There’s a Gambler that will tell you more about the silver sword and tells you to talk to the Gardener, you can play dice poker with him. Talk to Munro Buys, he also plays dice and happens to be one of the people you must beat in a game.
Talk to Carmen outside the Eager Thighs Brothel, she needs some help with some men harassing her girls. You can also play dice poker with her, but she’s not one of the professionals. At night, you will find the prostitutes being harassed by the bandits. There will be red markers on your map to show you where to go: the first one is near the hospital, another is by Vivaldi’s house, the third in the market square. Return to Carmen for your reward. If you refuse the money, then you can bring the girls some flowers to enjoy their services.
Go to the house by the dike entrance at night. There will be two wraiths inside (if you’re doing Coleman’s quest) or four graveirs in the basement (if you got Conrad’s quest). Complete the quest and return to the Hairy Bear for your reward.
Talk to the gravedigger outside the cemetery gates during the day. Talk to Hilldegard Zollstock, she is usually near the cemetary at noon. She’s being haunted by her husband. Go to the cemetery at midnight to find the ghost and kill it. Find her again for your reward.
You should see Zoltan Chivay walking around, talk to him when you do. Ask about other poker players, work (will tell you where Leuvaarden is) and Vivaldi. Ask him if he has a minute to listen to some interesting philosophical dialog. Go to the hospital and talk to the Gardener outside to learn more about the silver sword. You can give him food in exchange for some roses. Give the roses to any of Carmen’s girls to get their card.
Take the Fisstech to Jethro (if you can’t buy it, you should have looted some from bandits), and he will tell you about a prisoner that was taken to the hospital. Go to the hospital sometime after 10pm, talk to the prisoner and Rammsmeat’s men will appear and attack you. Get rid of them, return to Raymond Maarloeve and compare notes.
Make sure you have all the contracts and activate their quests. Go to the dike and talk to Leuvaarden. You can let him know about his friend’s remains, and see what work he has for you. As it turns out, he needs you to kill some drowners in the swamp. Talk to the ferry man and cross over. Kill drowners at night near the dock, and return to Leuvaarden for your reward.

Go back to the swamp. Talk to Gramps and escort him to the Clay Pits and then to the Melitele shrine. You will be able to visit him and meditate at the hut later. Go to the Brickmakers Village and talk to Vaska to know more about Berengar She will also tell you about the Golem and asks you to clear the Clay Pits of any drowers. Go back to the Clay Pits and take them out to receive a Sephirah as reward.
For The Sentry (Golem) quest, you need to get a lightning rod, so go back to the Temple Quarter and talk to either the Dwarven Blacksmith or the Order Armorer about making one. Leave the area and come back to pick up the rod. Now you need a lightning storm. Go back to the swamp and talk to the Elder Druid in the Druid Grove, he will do it for 500 orens. Go to the Golem Cemetery and place the rod on the Golem. The lightning will wake it up.
You don’t really need to engage in battle with it, all you have to do is run around on the outside of the three pillars, activate two, run to the third and lure the Golem. Once he steps inside of the triagle area between the pillars, activate the third and it will strike it. Do it three times to kill it. You will receive a Golem Obsidian Heart and another Sephirah from the corpse.
All the Sephirah you’ve been collecting are for Kalkstein’s quest A Mysterious Tower. You will need to find ten to open the tower in the swamp. Here’s how:
– At the beginning of this quest, Kalkstein gives you Chocc’mah.
– You have already found Maal’kad on the Cockatrice in the sewers.
– Vaska gives you Kezath once you have cleared the Clay Pits.
– Neh’tza comes from killing the Golem in the Swamp.
– Leuvaarden will sell you Tipperath.
– Y’esath is in the cave in the Swamp.
– Raymond Maarloeve gives you Keth’aar after you’ve done the autopsy.
– Ghe’vrath, Oth and Veen’ah can be obtained from leaving a fruit, a flower and a plant at Melitele’s shrine in the hospital.
