METEORITES, RUNES AND FORGING NEW SWORDS
Blacksmiths will use Meteorite and Runes to forge new swords. Depending on what you have in your inventory, the possible sword combinations will appear in the blacksmith’s or armorer’s “store”. You will still have to pay for the item to be forged though.
Keep in mind, Meteorite Swords are effective on humanoids, while Rune Swords are best for fighting monsters.

WHERE TO FIND THEM
Meteorites and Runes can be looted, purchased or obtained as rewards throughout the game. Here is a list.
Prologue
Red Meteorite: Vesemir gives you one during a conversation, if you chose to fight the Frightener.
Chapter 1
Blue Meteorite (x2): Buy one from Haren Brogg. There’s another in a chest in the cave near where you find Alvin, during Salamandra’s Tail quest.
Red Meteorite (x2): One is in a chest in the crypt, near Ozzrel. You get another for killing Leos’s Ghost in the chapel basement, during Dead Hand of the Past quest.
Chapter 2
Blue Meteorite (x2): Buy one from the Order Merchant or Blacksmith’s apprentice. Buy the other from Thaler.
Red Meteorite (x2): One is inside a tomb in the crypt of Vizima’s Cemetery. Another in the Mage’s Tower, in the swamp.
Yellow Meteorite: Kill Ramsmeat during Vizima Confidential quest.
Sun Rune: Buy it from Thaler.
Earth Rune: Reward from Zoltan at the end of Memory of a Blade quest.
Chapter 3
Red Meteorite: One of the rewards from defeating Andrew Gablodda in a fist fight.
Sun Rune: In a chest in the Salamandra base.
Earth Rune: One of the rewards from defeating Andrew Gablodda in a fist fight.
Moon Rune: From a dead body in Kikimore Lair.
Chapter 4
Blue Meteorite: Buy it from the Blacksmith’s Son in Murky Waters.
Red Meteorite (x2): Buy one from the Blacksmith’s Son in Murky Waters. The other is one of the rewards offered for completing the Temptation quest.
Yellow Meteorite: One of the rewards from defeating The Rock in a fist fight.
Sun Rune (x2): You can get one by killing Dagon during the Ripples quest. The other you can buy from the Blacksmith’s Son in Murky Waters.
Earth Rune (x3): One is found on a dead body near the bridge. Another is a reward for completing Old Habits Die Hard quest.You can buy one more from the Blacksmith’s Son in Murky Waters.
Moon Rune (x2): One is in a chest on Black Tern Island. The other is one of the rewards for defeating The Rock in a fist fight.
Chapter 5
Yellow Meteorite (x3): You can buy one from the Order Quartermaster in Old Vizima. Another can be found on a dead body in the Striga’s crypt. The other is in a trunk in Old Manor, near where you meet Siegfried.
Red Meteorite: Buy it from the Order Quartermaster in Old Vizima.
Blue Meteorite: Buy it from the Order Quartermaster in Old Vizima.
Sun Rune: Buy it from the Fence.
Earth Rune (x2): You can buy one from the Fence in Old Vizima. The other is on a dead body by a fireplace in Old Manor
Moon Rune (x3): You can buy one from the Fence. Another is in a chest in Old Manor, near where you meet Siegfried. The third is in a chest in the Ancient Crypt.
