Yggdra Union Battle Field Walkthrough

In Game Guides by Didi Cardoso

Battle Field 1

Read the prologue and Battle Field 1 intro. On the battle menu screen, press A to move to the card selection screen. Select all cards available.

To begin, select a lower power card such as Steal or Refreshment and then select Milanor with the A Button to move him two squares down next to the Assassin. Your moves are limited, so press the B Button to reset Milanor to his original position and refill the number of moves available if you make a mistake (once you press A to confirm his position, the deduction of moves is permanent). You could use Flunky, but seeing as how he is a temporary character, doing so would be a waste of experience. Press Start while the cursor is over Milanor to enter attack mode. Select the Assassin and press A to begin the fight, pressing A again to confirm. For now the two armies will fight amongst themselves with no input from the player, so watch as Milanor decimates the Assassins and that party?s Morale decreases to zero. A unit can fight and win or be defeated multiple times; whenever it is defeated, its Morale decreases. Once Morale reaches zero, that unit is permanently defeated and disappears from the map.

Having defeated the Assassin, press the L Button and select ?End Turn? to finish your turn: you receive only one attack per turn. A unit of Bandits will attack Milanor and will be defeated. You will then be prompted to choose another card, so choose something stronger this time, such as Mirage or Mind Change. Move Milanor over to the Woman Clad in Armor and attack. End your turn, and she will return the favor; though it may seem as though you are losing, Milanor is actually sporting a shield during this battle that prevents his defeat. The woman is defeated and her party annihilated. Victory. For your effort you receive a new item and a new card.

Battle Field 2

Battle Preparations:

There is nothing to in the menu yet, so simply press A to select what characters are given to you and proceed to the card menu and select all of the cards there again.

The Battle:

At this point it would be useful to note that certain classes carry an advantage against other classes. To view a chart of these strengths and weaknesses at any time, simply press L to bring up the battle menu and select ?Weapon Types?. For the battle, Yggdra?s sword will be effective against Bandits and equal against other Fencers. Milanor?s axes, meanwhile, are weak to Fencer?s swords, so it?s best to keep him out of the fight for now. Select a card with power of around 1300 or so and move Yggdra next to the Bandit. Keep in mind that the card you choose to use for your attacks will also be used during the enemy?s turn to defend, so choosing the lowest value to conserve strength is not always the best option.

Attack the Bandit, and you will notice a bar at the top of the screen. If you hold Left or Right during the battle, your party?s state will alternate from Passive to Aggressive, respectively. When Aggressive, the bar drains, increasing the strength of your attacks. When passive, the bar fills and allows you to execute a card’s skill when it is completely full. Use this bar at your own discretion for now. Additionally, if either?s party initial attack knocks the other?s leader down (a ?Critical Hit?), then the player relinquishes control of the unit?s bar and in most cases watches it lose. The bandit?s party should go out like a light. End your turn and the enemy should stay put. Use whatever moves you have remaining to move Milanor closer to the Town at the bottom right of the map and end your turn. The enemy should stay put. Select another card and move Yggdra to attack the next Fencer, and then Inzaghi, all the while moving Milanor to the Village, where he will receive a Fur. Once Inzaghi is defeated, this phase of the battle ends.

Suddenly, Leon the Black Knight appears to give chase. You cannot defeat him (he has the shame shield on that Milanor had during the first battle), so using the cards with the highest move values, move both Yggdra?s and Milanor?s units to the flag on the top-right space of the map: this is a ?target point?. Once this is done, the battle is complete.

Battle Field 3

Battle Preparations:

Again, there is very little to do. You can press Right while highlighting either character to enter the Morale Menu, where you can use items to increase lost Morale. Different items will work on different characters?well, differently. Of course, these same items will be equipable later, so it is best for now to leave them as they are. Return to the Character Selection screen by pressing the B Button and then select your cards for the upcoming battle (all of them).

The Battle:

The battle begins and Durant is attacked; don?t worry about him too much. Your goal is to clear up the two spaces next to him and move Yggdra and Milanor next to him to complete the mission objectives. Milanor is effective against the mounted Knights and not so much against Fencers, so select a card with high power (such as ?Revolution?) and move Milanor under the leftmost Knight and Yggdra to his right or at least to Milanor?s right so that the Fencer under Durant does not attack Milanor. You will note when you attack the Knight that he is protected; you cannot annihilate his party, so don?t bother wasting Morale attacking; Keep Yggdra next to Milanor until Durant has finished off the knights, then focus her on destroying the enemies around Durant. You?ll take a couple hits from the remaining Knight; this is pretty much unavoidable. Once the Fencers are finished, move both allied units next to him to end the battle phase. Don?t be afraid to use your high-power cards for any of this; they?ll reset at the end of the phase.

You can continue fighting at length, but remember that a large group of enemies will simply disappear if their leader is destroyed; in this case it is the Knight just to the left of the nearest bridge, who can be easily reached by attacking an enemy who he is linked to: the other Knight just to the left of Durant. Send Milanor with Durant support if need be (for the Fencer) and make sure Yggdra is not linked to any attacking character or she?ll suffer unnecessary damage. Note: You can find a Kokorinut in the space just above where Durant starts and a Trap two spaces to the left of that.

Once the first batch of enemies is gone, only the Witches remain, all of whom are especially effective against all of your available weapon types. This means you?ll want to use multiple allies on each Witch individually to make sure none retaliate. Placing Durant on either bridge gives him a bonus that is important in defeating the Witches. Also make time to move Milanor to the Town just to the bottom right of the bridge, where his Fur will be used to make a Fur Coat (but make sure to go during the day, or else the residents will be asleep). Destroy Eudy?s unit and Aegina comes to join the fight.

Being a Fencer, Aegina and her fellow units are weak to spears, so send Durant by his lonesome using the strongest cards you have. These Fencers should fall into each others? formations, so eliminating multiple units at a time shouldn?t be a problem. Be especially careful that Milanor does not move into Durant?s formation, or else he?ll take a beating when the Fencers fight back. Defeat Aegina and the battle is over.

Battle Field 4

Battle Preparations:

Select Durant to join your battle units and move into the card select screen. This will be the first battle where you cannot use all of the cards in your inventory. As a general rule, selecting the cards with the highest power is a good idea; it will allow you to strike hard and do so continuously. Choosing lower level cards repeatedly will thin the amount power ups each card receives after successfully defeating an enemy unit, thereby lessening your striking power in the long run.

The Battle:

Your goal in this battle is to assume control of three fortresses by defeating the commanders sitting on top of them and then simply walking on. The first is guarded by three Fencers and a Knight, so send in Durant. Attack the top left Fencer; another is linked to his unit and you won?t have to worry about another Knight that way. If you like, move Milanor in take care of the Knight once the Fencers are out of the way or Durant is physically blocking them from attacking; right above the Knight you can find a book, Imperial Warfare 2.

Once you?ve burned down the Fortress, your cards reset and you are sent after the next. This time you?re looking at three Bandits and a Knight, so you?ll want to send in Yggdra with Milanor?s support; as long as you attack the bottom left Bandit there should be no problem; he?ll never be in formation with the Knight, who will never move from his spot. Check the square to the bottom right of the Knight for a copy of Imperial Warfare 1.

After razing the second depot, only one remains, and it is occupied by bow-users, who are weak to all three of your weapon-types. They are accompanied by another Knight, so simply send Milanor in to sweep up, possibly accompanied by Durant if he is falling behind on experience for whatever reason. Also don?t forget to pick up the copy of Imperial Warfare 3 sitting diagonally across from the last Knight and visit the Nomad at the Village near the two barricades during the day to receive a bottle of Goat Milk. Capture the last Fortress and the battle is won.

Battle Field 5

Battle Preparations:

Your character choices are fixed, but this is the first battle where you can change a character?s equipment. Durant is the only equipable one so far, so press left when highlighting him to be taken to his equipment screen. The number of maps to the right of each item name is the number of maps that the item?s effect lasts. All Imperial Warfare volumes are available, but they decrease Durant?s attack, so it?s best to save them for Morale increases. If there is any character who is severely damaged after the previous battle, feel free to increase their Morale with the Goat Milk you have just received. If it is Durant, use an Imperial Warfare volume. Once you are ready, choose your strongest cards and begin.

The Battle:

All of your enemies are Undines in this battle, who use spear-type weapons. This means that your best bet of victory will be to use Milanor to full effect. The Undines are concentrated in a small area, so choose a strong card and move Milanor next to one of them; their formation should help you take out multiple units at a time. This is really quite a straightforward battle. Just make sure that none of your allies accidentally gets caught in the crossfire. This goes especially for Yggdra, who is weak to the Undines? weapons.

Battle Field 6

Battle Preparations:

Equip Durant with the Ice Javelin you have just received and increase any low Morale now. The next battle is a tough one.

The Battle:

This battle is a little dangerous with the way your enemies are arranged. The first thing you want to do is let them space themselves out: use a low power card and simply end your turn. A unit of Bandits will move up to loot a village, and you are free to attack with Yggdra without fear of retaliation by Undines. Move Yggdra up to the space just under the top-left Assassin and place Milanor to her left (you?ll probably want to use Revolution, as it is both strong and has a high number of moves). Attack, and a couple units should go down. End your turn and the remainder should hurtle themselves toward you for a swift suicide. Choose a powerful card and attack the remaining Brigand, still making sure that Milanor is next to Yggdra; this way she will attack the Brigand and Milanor will attack the Undine unit, hopefully finishing both off. If not, end your turn and let the enemy attack you for a similar result. Move the pair next to Ortega and repeat the procedure. After the Undine linked to Ortega dies, move Milanor next to the one adjacent to Ortega and attack, moving Yggdra away so that when Ortega dies, she won?t be exposed to the direct attack of the Undine just below him. When Ortega?s unit is destroyed, attack the remaining Undines and move both units away. Use Durant to step onto the space where Ortega stood and this battle phase is over. If all goes well you should just barely make it before your cards run out.

A new set of enemies appears, but with Durant in the space closest to them the enemy?s Fencer charge will be ineffectual. The enemy force consists of Fencers and Assassins, so beak out your strongest cards and use Durant to full effect. Simply keep him on the town space and move all other units away. With the right tactics, a quick victory and an end to the battle is assured.

Battle Field 7

Battle Preparations:

This is the first battle you fight with Nietzsche. Since she is another spear-wielding character, you may notice that she doesn?t lend any extra advantage. Truth be told, she is of little use most of the game, so never bother equipping her with items that can be equipped on other characters. Make sure from here on out you take Ace Guard and Revolution into every battle.

The Battle:

This is going to be the first battle in which card abilities can be used. Each card has a different circumstance for its usage (you can check these with the Card List selection in the Battle Menu) but they all require that your battle gauge be filled to 100%. Before you waste precious seconds and damage filling it, make sure the conditions for its use are filled. There is no bigger waste of Morale than that spent in a battle lost trying to activate a card that cannot be activated.

You?ll be fighting Undines for this battle, so use Milanor. You can keep everyone else back; sending them into battle will likely yield no benefit and a potentially high loss of Morale. As you send Milanor after the first set of Undines, make sure that Yggdra isn?t in his formation (she begins that way) or she will suffer fatal damage during the skirmish. You can use the Ace Guard ability during the first skirmish to block all charges for the rest of your and the enemy?s turns. This is a very useful card and can save a unit when it is facing another that has more advantageous weaponry. Also take note that when one of the Undines uses Blizzard, the surrounding area on the battle field will become frozen and permit any unit to tread upon it, while also destroying the Undines?s water advantage. Be wary of keeping a unit on any one of these spaces too long. however: once they melt, the unit will simply fall in and be destroyed. Unwittingly allowing Milanor to drown is a very frustrating way to end a battle. Once Ishiene falls the phase is over.

In the next phase, all of your enemies are Undines once again: send in Milanor using medium power cards. After you?ve killed a few Undines two bounty hunter units come in from the Northwest. Simply use Yggdra to finish them (Mizer may prove to be a bit of trouble, so you can link Yggdra up with Durant to finish him) and then continue fighting with Milanor (try to use Revolution when fighting a large group to power it up further) while you send Nietzsche to pick up any water-laden treasures that remain from the previous phase. When Emelone falls, the battle is won.

Battle Field 8

Battle Preparations:

Go ahead and give Yggdra the Iron Choker and give Milanor the Fur Coat. Make extra sure to bring along Revolution so that Yggdra is not pulverized when the second phase of this battle begins.

The Battle:

The Golems you find here are weak to nothing except Roswell?s attacks, and Rosary is also especially potent against all of your allies, but you don?t have to finish her to end the phase. Simply attack the Golems; Roswell can also take care of himself, so don?t worry too much about him. Unless you kill the Golems outright (you have two turns), some Bandits will show up to give you trouble; focus on eliminating them first, especially Mizer. Send Durant after the topmost Golem and use Yggdra for the bottom. Have the last card you use to kill the final Golem with be Revolution, and make sure your other allies are far enough from Rosary so they don?t get pummeled when the next phase begins.

Unfortunately, Rosary seems to have enlisted the aid of Imperial forces. They are unlikely to attack Durant, who is well protected if they do, but there?s a good chance that Yggdra will be attacked, and that is why the last card you should have used should have been Revolution. To use its ability, you must charge the battle gauge and wait until Yggda?s unit has sustained enough damage so that she is on her own; you?ll be cutting it close, that?s how this card works. Hold B to charge the card and release to activate the Revolution ability. If it connects, it will utterly decimate the enemy unit, leaving only the leader, and giving you just enough space to achieve victory. Make sure not to take a passive stance after using it, as you?ll likely have just barely enough HP to eek out a victory. Do this twice and Yggdra should be in the clear for now. With your cards restored for the new phase, Revolution will also be available a second time.

At the first chance you get, move Yggdra out of the way and sent Durant blazing into battle. After a couple turns Roswell should activate his Ankh cannon, but you really shouldn?t need it to win. Just keep hitting hard with Durant and Russell will go down in no time. And don?t worry about Rosary. She never has the gall to attack.

Battle Field 9

Battle Preparations:

There?s a very good chance Yggdra?s Iron Choker was broken by Russell, so give her the Brave Ring to replace it. Use a Medallion on anyone especially low on Morale.

The Battle:

You?ll need to clear your units out so that the Golems have a clear path to the bridges. The skeletons are easy pickings, but watch out for Roswell, who has an advantage over all of your units. Luckily, he won?t move, so just concentrate on making room for the Golems and finishing off as many skeletons as you can by standing just over the bridges. After two turns Mizer and company show up for another beating, so feel free to oblige them. You?ll want to use your strongest cards here, because finishing off bow enemies is difficult given the inability to counter their attacks. Remember to use the abilities of Revolution and Ace Guard when choosing either of those cards.

Leon comes to reinforce Roswell, so you would be best off using Milanor to full effect. Keep other allies away from Milanor?s formation; he can take all of Leon?s units alone. The Knights should go down easily, and after a couple of turns Rosary even lends her Ankh to your battle effort. When Leon falls the battle ends.

Battle Field 10

Battle Preparations:

From now on be sure to take the Chariot card into battle; it gives Durant an invaluable skill that is essentially akin to that of Revolution; wait until only Durant remains and activate it for maximum effect. Heal the Morale damage you inevitably sustained using whatever unequipable items you can and charge back into battle.

The Battle:

For this battle you?ll be facing a set of four Bandits, an Assassin, and a Fencer. Send in Yggdra and Durant not too far behind her to help her take care of the Assassin and Inzaghi. Make sure to let her handle the Bandits by herself, though; Durant is weak to Axes. After a couple of turns Ortega will become upset and coerce Inzaghi into joining the fight. At this point, position Durant carefully so he will exchange hits only with Inzaghi. Of course, if you manage to finish off Ortega before Inzaghi moves down to attack, that won?t be a problem. The phase ends when Ortega falls.

The second phase will probably be one of the more difficult parts of the game; you?ll need to choose to let either Roswell or Rosary live, and then hunt the other one down. Both have Ankhs that they ready and use in two turns and they both make use of three mage units that all of your allied units are weak to. You will need to use Durant and Milanor in combination in order to complete the task assigned to you. Move Durant in past either guard in a spot where he will be will under Milanor?s formation when Milanor attack that guard directly, then eliminate the guards around your target so that you can attack him or her individually and hit as hard as you can. It?s going to be difficult, and you are going to take some damage, but it can be done.

Battle Field 11A : After Killing Rosary

Battle Preparations:

Heal some of your damage and select your strongest cards.

The Battle:

All you need to do for now is send a unit next to Roswell, who is surrounded by Knights: Milanor is the best candidate for the job. Attack the Knight next to Roswell and take the place of the one that was right above Roswell when your next turn comes up. Now you are charged with getting Roswell to his Manor. When you have the opportunity, move Yggdra out and away to the down right portion of the map so that she is out of the way. Try to use Ace Guard during your first attack, as it will likely involve Emilia, who can make short work of you. After a couple of turns Zilva will appear: this is the reason Yggdra was moved out of the way. Continue pummeling Leon so he goes down quickly; once he does, all enemy units pull out. Simply place Roswell on the Manor where Leon was standing and the battle ends.

Battle Field 11B : After Killing Roswell

Battle Preparations:

Heal some of your damage and choose Durant. Select your strongest cards.

The Battle:

Begin by sending Durant in after the two Fencers; they should go down easily. On your next turn, move Milanor out and place Durant next to Rosary, ending the phase. Next, bring Durant in between the two remaining Fencers and attack the top one. Zilva and company should appear at the top of the map; keep Rosary away from them. Finish Russell with your strongest cards and the battle is completed.

Battle Field 12

Battle Preparations:

Since you have Roswell/Rosary, make use of his/her abilities.

The Battle:

Ortega is your foe in this bout. Send in Roswell/Rosary; your new mage is strong against all the enemies on the map. Under him/her place Milanor, then Durant below him. Once the first set of enemies is defeated (all vanish when the Bandit at the top is killed), send Milanor up to the Brigand Hut for an item. There is another item two spaces down and three spaces left of the catapult as well. By this point Mizer should show up yet again. Make sure to put as many allies as you can on whatever formation you designate to take him down (except Rosary/Roswell, who is weak to bows). Deal with Mizer first, then proceed to Ortega?s group using Yggdra with Durant?s support. Once the pack thins out, send in Milanor for some added punch and move Durant out of the way so he doesn?t die by Ortega?s hand. Once Ortega kicks it, the battle is won.

Battle Field 13

Battle Preparations:

You?ll want Roswell/Rosary for this bout, especially because of his/her initial positioning. Also try to choose a few cards alongside your strongest that have a high amount of moves. Make sure these moves total at the very least 96.
The Battle:

Imperials block your way and the remnants of Ortega?s Brigands are here to pay their thanks. The first order of business is to take out the Brigands. Luckily, Roswell/Rosary is placed perfectly for the attack. Use your strongest cards outright, especially since they will be restored shortly. After the Brigands have been destroyed, simply end your turns until mist covers the area. You can find a Never-Opening Purse in the top-right square; use Roswell/Rosary to get to it. You will see why in a moment.

Once mist covers the area, keep your units as high as possible; a path is revealed, and hopefully your cards will have enough moves to get your entire party up through the mountain path and to the target point. As you go up tread the space that is the farthest to the right at the beginning of the phase for an item. Once it is night you can move Roswell/Rosary directly across to the next section of the battle field without having to waste moves going all the way around. To move everyone to the target point and grab all of the items you will need 96 moves. That?s all there is to this battle.

Battle Field 14

Battle Preparations:

Nothing special; heal up and equip whoever needs to be equipped.

The Battle:

There are a variety of foes to face in this battle, so Durant is your safest bet for victory. Send him in strong and he should make short work of everyone. Once you?ve captured the location two messengers appear; don?t waste any time being reserved with your cards. Go after them and use all of your allies for support. If you can, enlist the aid of the nearby catapults by placing them in your formation when you attack. The messengers should go down without too much of a fight.

Battle Field 15

Battle Preparations:

Make sure you bring along Rosary/Roswell; he/she will be an invaluable asset.

The Battle:

There are so many enemies here it?s difficult to isolate any types. This will also be the first battle where your formation will extend an extra distance depending on what ally you are linked to. For instance, if Durant attacks and is diagonally linked to Yggdra, all allies next to Yggdra will be included in the skirmish; if Durant is linked to Milanor, all allies diagonally next to Milanor will be included. This makes battle considerably more complicated.

Begin by sending in your mage and use medium to high-power cards. There shouldn?t be too much trouble. When the forces thin out, bring in an ally to compliment your attack against whatever enemy is left over. Before you finish of Inzaghi, however, make sure that Durant is out into the center of the battle field. In a turn Aegina enters, and there are two ways to deal with this situation. If you want to simply end the battle, which is recommended, then Durant needs to be moved to the flag farthest before Aegina?s Valkyrie?s can hold it. If they do, you will have little choice but to defeat them, which is very difficult with Aegina?s 50% critical ability and her regeneration to full Morale every turn; remember, if any one allied unit is wiped out at this point, the battle ends in failure. With Durant holding the space, play as defensively as possible for the three turns which will be required to move all of your characters onto the flags. If you choose to defeat the Valkyries, then progress slowly and in a group to avoid having to combat more than one Valkyrie at a time. Of course, this should only be an option if there is some card which has been super powered (at least 3200 or so) over the course of the last ten missions, enabling you to deal enough Morale damage to defeat Aegina. When she?s finished, place all four characters on the flags and the battle is over.

Battle Field 16

Battle Preparations:

This is going to be quite an annoying fight. Make sure Durant?s Morale is high; he?s going to be taking an inevitable beating right off the bat. Make extra sure Ace Guard and Chariot are a part of your card selection, and begin the fight.

The Battle:

You begin instantly surrounded by Griffon riders, and they get the first turn. These birds can do some serious damage, and their Gravity Chaos ability does fatal damage and causes the curse status effect, which slows its target?s attack; you must avoid it at all costs. It is better to hasten your death than to prolong a skirmish where one of the riders can get off Gravity Chaos. Durant is also especially weak to their attack. After your first turn finishes, move Durant out of the way and attack with Milanor using Ace Guard; his high Gen should protect him from any Gravity Chaos skills, and Ace Guard will make him last through all four fights. As long as you keep Durant away from any allied formations where the riders can reach him, they should target Milanor on their turn. Finish off Emilia and the phase is over.

To advance in the next phase, you must take damage from the cannon; you?ll need to send three characters into its range. Start out by moving Durant above the witches lined up above Eudy (use Chariot). Keep all other allies out of the cannon?s range until the next turn, and then move in Yggdra and your mage. When Durant finishes all three Witch units he can stand on the bottom space, which is not in the cannon?s range (and also holds a Sweetberry). After two turns of your other units taking damage (while this is happening you can send Milanor to the bottom-most village to get an Ogre Blade and the other village for a Gold Spear) the phase will end.

When Kylier shows up quickly move your units out of the cannon?s range and move Milanor and your mage in formation with Kylier to be able to do enough Morale damage to defeat Eudy. Ace Guard has been restored and is useful if you haven?t already used it. Once Eudy is defeated Kylier seizes the cannon.

Now it?s time to go after Leon. Send Milanor up first and follow him with Durant. Go slowly and let enemies come to you so that the cannon has more time to soften them up. If you get a chance, there are a few items to look for. You can find a Cracked Dud one space down and two spaces left from where Kylier begins and a Princess Dress in the Fortress nearby. Additionally, you can use Durant to hop over Leon and obtain a Treasure Map three spaces up from the bottom-left corner of the battle field. It will be tough, but Leon will go down.

Battle Field 17

Battle Preparations:

Give Yggdra the Princess Dress and Durant the Catastrophe. Make sure everyone?s Morale is above 75%, especially Milanor?s. Also make sure you start taking Gravity Chaos with you from now on; as annoying as it was to you, it?ll be even more helpful against your enemies. It even works on some bosses.

The Battle:

Start by choosing Revolution and sending Yggdra to face the topmost archer, placing Milanor to her left. Attack, and several enemy units should fall; if Yggdra faces Baldus, make sure to use Revolution. Once all that remains is Baldus and a Griffon rider, you can send Yggdra away and put forward Milanor with your mage?s support. Gravity Chaos doesn?t work on Baldus, so don?t waste your time. Still, he should go down easily, so just keep hitting hard with Milanor until Baldus retreats.

In the next phase Kylier faces a threat. It is a very minor one, especially with your cards restored. Just use your strongest and attack the two Assassins; they won?t fight back. Your cards will be returned to you again at the end of this phase. Also try to let the last card you use be something that has a good defensive skill, such as Ace Guard or Gravity Chaos.

At the beginning of the next phase Gulcasa unleashes his troops and they receive the first attack. Hopefully you picked a good card to finish off the Assassins, so just fight as hard as you can until your turn comes up and you can arrange your allies as advantageously as possible. Finish off Gulcasa?s allies, attempting to keep him within the cannon?s range to gradually wear him down. Gulcasa is extremely difficult as he is; your best hope of even putting a dent in his armor is to use Gravity Chaos against him to slow his attack speed once you?ve got him alone. Once you?ve done this, follow up with Ace Guard in a formation containing all of your units and he should go down.

Battle Field 18

Battle Preparations:

You don?t even have to take any damage this battle, so it is best not to equip anything. Restore any low Morale if you like.

The Battle:

This is primarily a storyline battle, so end your turn until you receive control of Milanor and company. Then you can move up, but just end your turn until the situation changes. Once again, you can do nothing, so simply end your turns until all enemies disappear, and you are tasked with moving all allied units to the target point. Do so, but make sure to step on the space diagonally to the top-right of the target point: there you will find a Mirror of Truth. Once you have it, exit.

Battle Field 19

Battle Preparations:

Nothing special. Restore Morale and choose your strongest cards.

The Battle:

Start by sending your mage to attack the Fencers and Bandits near the castle and hold Milanor where he begins to take on the Knights if they attack. Once the Bandits are gone add Durant to the mage?s formation and eliminate the enemies as quickly as possible to avoid remaining in the cannon?s line of fire for too long. Once you?ve done this, the phase ends.

Keep all allies out of the range of the cannon, and during the night walk onto the castle gate with Milanor, making sure that Durant is right behind him. Once both are inside, have Durant attack the guards as a distraction; once the Valkyrie blocking Milanor?s path to the target point has been destroyed, use a card with a high number of moves and get Milanor to the target point at once.

Battle Field 20

Battle Preparations:

Select Durant. For this battle you?ll want eight cards with a high amount of moves and two with high power, one of which should probably be Ace Guard. There will be one enemy to fight.

The Battle:

As you begin you will see that the only way to go is up; move your units there. From here on out, the battle field map features branching paths; for the ease of description, I will refer to these paths instead of referencing specific spaces. The next part of each path is triggered by stepping on the space furthest along on it. Take the bottom left path and then take the top left. Here you will find Aegina guarding a girl. Use Durant to attack directly and place Milanor accordingly for support (use Ace Guard). Once Aegina is defeated, take the bottom right path and then the top path twice to find your target point. Place either character on top of it and this ?battle? is over.

Battle Field 21

Battle Preparations:

If you found Russell?s fianc?, this should be a fairy brief fight so heal up Morale and pick your strongest cards; you?re going to have to part a sea of enemies.

The Battle:

As you can see, your objective is to get through the gates. In truth, unless you missed Russell?s fianc? all you need to do here is get a character next to Russell. As such, make sure all of your attacks work towards the goal of clearing a path to him; you don?t have to bother with Inzaghi at all.

There are several varieties of enemies so send in your mage backed by Durant and Milanor (out of the mage?s formation range until you can target specific enemy types). Use your strongest cards or risk unnecessarily prolonging this fight. Step next to Russell and the battle ends itself. If for some reason you did not rescue his fianc?, you?ll have to finish off both Russell and Inzaghi, so try to isolate them and attack with all three allied units.

Battle Field 22

Battle Preparations:

This is going to be another one of those long, drawn out battles, so make sure everyone is healed well and equip whatever items you can do give you stat boosts. If you have the Ogre Blade this would be a good time to equip Milanor with it.

The Battle:

You are greeted by Aegina and a variety of bow-using enemies. Use your strongest cards; you also have Russell, but he won?t come in handy just yet. Just send in Durant and back him with Milanor. When Aegina falls move Durant and Milanor as high as you can and have your mage step on the space where Aegina was standing: this ends the phase.

Your next goal is to defeat Gulcasa, but doing so with a cannon on your back is futile. Send Durant directly up using Chariot and do as much damage as you can to Eudy and her Witches. The next chance you get, have Milanor fall under his formation to back him. Use some strong cards to finish Eudy, but save Ace Guard and Gravity Chaos for the battle with Gulcasa?s forces.

Once she is eliminated, send in Milanor first and follow him with your mage. Don?t be afraid to expend a high move card just to get your units into position; the enemy units never move. Use Gravity Chaos and destroy the bottom set of units, then move up and start attacking Gulcasa directly. It is likely that you?ll finish off the two Knights on the side, thus enabling you to attack Gulcasa alone. Set Milanor up in a formation with Durant and your mage and use Ace Guard. If this doesn?t finish him, use your next strongest card and it should. Congratulations, Karona is free.

Battle Field 23

Battle Preparations:

You?re going to need eight cards with high move and two with strong power. That is all; no major fighting occurs on this Battle Field.

The Battle:

Note that the battle begins at noon and that there is a peninsula on the battle field traveling up the left side of the battle field where the party begins. Use a high move card to move your mage out and place Milanor a space above where he/she stood. Make room for Russell and place him under Milanor. Stepping on the space above where Milanor is now will activate the next portion of the map, but it is advantageous for it to be noontime when you do so. Therefore, move all of your other units toward the target point (without actually stepping on it) until noon strikes.

Once it is noon, move Milanor up one space (use Revolution) and you will reveal Pamela the witch, who is hiding. Luckily for you, she sleeps during noontime and cannot counter your attacks (hence waiting until noon to reveal her). You now have two turns to defeat her before she vanishes. Move Milanor up and put Russell under his formation. Attack and she should be finished, but if not, just using the strongest low-move card you have and her defeat is certain.

Once you are finished move your characters back so that all of your units are around the target point and then step on it; all of your cards are restored. Your next goal is not the target point that is revealed; instead, choose a card and move a unit onto the space just above the topmost village. This reveals a second target point and your true destination. Step on that new target point and the battle ends.

Battle Field 23.5

Battle Preparations:

There are no major battle preparations; choose your cards well and go. You may notice that you now have access to the Fortune card (thank Pamela). It switches attack in for luck during a skirmish. Generally speaking, Knights and Fencers/Valkyries have low luck, making them prime candidates for such a card; all others typically have a luck stat that exceeds their attack. Of course, it is always best to check an enemies stats (hold the B Button over a unit) before attempting to execute a potentially suicidal skill.

The Battle:

You can find a Killer Beehive diagonally top-right of the closest town, so pick it up as you move to attack an enemy. Move Milanor in for the kill and watch the enemy stand still during his turn. Move next to Cruz and the phase ends.

Once the next phase starts up, blow through the Bandit and move all of your units up to attack Mizer. Once he is dead, make extra sure that your units are as high up as possible and have Cruz step on his hideout. This triggers the end of the phase and the entrance of the Imperial Army onto the Battle Field. As long as your units are high enough, the enemy?s units won?t be able to reach them on their first turn, giving you ample time to get Durant and Cruz out. Take it: they hit hard. Milanor can go a little slower, being strong to the enemy?s Knights. Still, their leader is protected and unable to be defeated, so get Milanor onto the target point as soon as possible.

Battle Field 24

Battle Preparations:

This is a battle that will consist of no fighting and only movement of units. Bring nothing but cards that give you the highest possible number of moves. That is all.

The Battle:

As you move to your target points, make sure to place your characters once space at a time; there are items around that are very easy to skip simply by walking right past them. Also remember to move all of your characters together so you don?t risk running out of cards somewhere halfway through the ?battle?. Hit the final target point with all of your units and this battle is finished.

Battle Field 25

Battle Preparations:

This one is going to be tricky. You?ll want Milanor, Durant, and Russell.

The Battle:

Once the battle starts move Russell up to the top-left Bandit and attack; Milanor should fall under his formation. After this first turn, move Russell away to where he began and have Milanor finish the remaining Knight. After this is finished, you have two options. Take note of the two branching paths: one leading up and one leading to the right. Either way you will be ambushed when you step on the farthest space on either path. Go up and you will be facing some Knights; go right and you will be facing Griffon riders. Clearly Milanor?s best bet it with the Knights. Make sure all of your other units are down where they began and away from the combat, for some Assassins will also appear on the left side of the Battle Field. You can try having Durant above Russell and using Chariot as the card with which you step onto the last space on either path in order that Durant defend himself easily. Your goal is not defeating the enemy, but holding out for a certain event, when conditions change. To this effect, pull back with Milanor and charge forward with Durant (there is an item to the left of the space that activates the top path?s enemies and another one above it, so grab the first and come back for the second as you are finishing the battle).

After a couple of turns Leon retreats and you are charged with defending Elena. Kylier comes to assist as well. Use your strongest cards to quickly destroy the Assassin next to Elena and step on the space where its unit was standing. As you are doing this, move Russell and Milanor towards the target point. Elena escapes, so make quick work of Zilva and move all of your units to the target point to end the battle.

Battle Field 26

Battle Preparations:

You will need Durant, Cruz, and your mage.

The Battle:

You can see that there are a variety of enemies here; just send your allies out and most should go down without much of a fight. You can begin by sending Durant upward to meet the top group of enemies; they fall easily.

Once all the enemies are defeated, have a look at the map. By stepping on the space farthest north, you will reveal another area to the battle field. You may notice that there is one isolated square: it is reachable with a mage during night time, when they can skip spaces in their movement. Send your mage up and when it becomes nighttime move him/her over to the lone space. If it appears that you are unable to, move him/her over one space during the day and then try again (you need to be a precise distance away)
There you will find Dragon Killer, a very useful card when facing, well, dragons. You can also find an item two spaces to the right and two spaces down from the town located there.

Visit the town. Next, step on the space one space up and four spaces left of the rightmost village (it should be a corner) to reveal another town and village. Visit the town. Finally, step on the spaces three spaces to the right of the leftmost town to reveal a final town. Visit this town and then move all of your units to the target point it reveals to finish this battle.

Battle Field 27

Battle Preparations:

Select Durant and your mage.

The Battle:

This battle begins with your watching Elena receive a beating. There?s nothing to do, just hope for few critical attacks by the enemy. Once you receive your turn, you need to hit hard and fast. Choose a card with high move and high power so that you can defeat an enemy next to Elena and have a second unit move in next to her so that her death doesn?t result in battle failure.

Once you have done this, the phase ends and your turn is first at the beginning of the next. You can use Elena on the Witches present, but make sure she is always being backed by your mage or Milanor. Finish Emilia and step on the space she occupied.
Now it?s time to go after Leon; this is actually easier than you think, and very fun. Pick your strongest card as long as it can take Milanor two spaces to the right of the Fortress and move him there. You may note that by attacking the Knight now to his right, you will be attacking four different units of Knights, and you will be supported by a catapult as well. Activate your attack and watch in enjoyment. After you are done move in Durant to support Milanor for the enemy?s counterattack. During your attack, you may notice that there are two towns which appear only during the night. Visit the top one to receive the Kiss of Death card: this card will power up your offense and defense in battle for a limited time, at the end of which time will claim the life of your head. Visit the bottom town to receive Dark Matter. Finish Leon for good and the battle is won.

Battle Field 28

Battle Preparations:

Bring along Durant, Cruz, and Russell or your mage.

The Battle:

Begin by dispatching your mage or Russell to defeat the lone Bandit, and then second Milanor down to attack the Knight and two Golems. When the Knight there dies, the entire bunch of enemies is destroyed. Step Milanor next to Yggdra and the battle phase ends.

Of course, Gulcasa flies out to spoil your fun, and stomping dragons begin to claw towards Milanor. He shouldn?t have trouble at first; pull all your allies as far north as possible until enough turns have passed for the phase to end. Once it has, quickly move Elena to her target point to get rid of your obstacle. Now that the way is clear, pull all of your allies to the target point, letting Milanor trail behind to stall Gulcasa until everyone else is gone. Then simply move him out to the target point after them. Finally, move Elena to her target point (go one space at a time to find a Lost Material) and the battle is finished.

Battle Field 29

Battle Preparations:

Take whomever you want; this group will now include Yggdra. Simply choose your strongest cards.

The Battle:

Pay close attention to the battle field; you may notice that there is a path that runs through it, and on this path units may move normally. If they tread off this path, they your units will only be able to move one space at a time (this includes to get back where they were, so don?t waste a turn unless you have to. That said, if you take the turns necessary to go three spaces down and one space left from where Milanor begins (use a non-essential character), you will find an item and a clue to the location of an oasis. You will probably want to use Yggdra against the Bandit, but remember that she is underleveled, so bring in help or risk losing her within two skirmishes (Revolution also helps immensely). Step on the town where Mizer was standing and the phase is over.

For this next part, you?re heading down to the bottom left, so treat carefully and use Yggdra (keep Durant away if you?ve got him). After reaching the end of that path you?ll be ambushed by the Bandit leader; Yggdra should be able to take them all, but you can send in Milanor or your mage to assist. After a turn Kylier shows up and you can use her if you like: she?s not especially effective, but she can travel over sand without the same penalty as other characters. Once you defeat Dort you can finish the battle by visiting the town at the bottom-left.

Battle Field 30

Battle Preparations:

Nothing special; use your best judgment in selecting characters, as you?ll be facing Bandits and Assassins.

The Battle:

You can?t really do much about Emilia; don?t worry about her. You can find an item a space to the left from the bottom right corner of the map, so send Kylier to grab it. Use Yggdra to attack the bandits and support with Kylier, who is considerably more mobile. Once all enemies are finished, you can find Yumina?s Diary two spaces up from the town and a Mepple one space down and two spaces to the right of it. Reach the town to end the battle.

Battle Field 31

Battle Preparations:

This is probably one of the few battles you won?t want Durant along for. Instead, bring along your mage and Cruz.

The Battle:

Don?t worry about Gordon; he can take care of himself and heals his Morale every turn. Just move Kylier so she doesn?t fall under his formation and send Yggdra to help, keeping Cruz somewhere behind her for later. When Zilva is finished, the phase ends.

Your next destination if the church, but after a turn you will find that Emillia gets there first. Send in Cruz first, moving one space at a time, and place Gordon right behind him. Cruz is very strong against Griffon Riders. When you get into a position to attack the three Griffon riders who end up at the church, make sure Gordon is not in Cruz?s formation (he is weak to riders) and use your strongest cards. Emilia and company should fall easily, and then take all the time you need to bring your characters down into the bottom part of the battle field and then move Gordon onto the church to end the phase.

Now it?s time to take on Mardym. Send Milanor after the Skeletons, Gordon after the Valkyries, and Cruz after Mardym. Remember that Skeletons sleep at noon, so try to attack then.

Battle Field 32

Battle Preparations:

Again, make sure to bring Cruz; he is invaluable against Griffon riders and mages of all sorts. As far as other selection are concerned, it would be redundant to use Durant when you have Gordon, so try choosing your mage or Elena to aid you in your strife. This is going to be another long one.

The Battle:

For some reason, Mardym has decided to make himself especially vulnerable. Oblige his death wish and send in Gordon and Cruz. Once the Valkyries are finished, put an end to Mardym (which will make the Griffon riders disappear) and have Milanor take point as the drives into the peninsula after Juvelon. Back him with Cruz, who should be able to make short work of Juvelon himself. If you have time, take Kylier onto the lone island space towards the bottom for the battle field for an item. The battle phase ends with Juvelon?s demise.

Suddenly Gulcasa appears, and Gordon doesn?t stand much of a chance. The only way to finish this battle is to stall as much as possible so that Yggdra can get to her target point, one agonizing step at a time. Use your strongest cards and don?t hold anything back. You already know how hard Gulcasa can hit; don?t let him. Remembering that your goal is not to defeat him, but hold him off, never make an attack. Always end your turn and wait for the enemy?s attack. If you draw Gulcasa into the straight path at the top of the battle field avoid using Kylier, as her formation will embroil everyone near her. Try to alternate your units by letting one suffer an attack and then pull back. There?s a good chance you?ll have to lose at least one unit in the scuffle, but eventually Yggdra will reach her destination and the phase will end.

Now it?s time to finish Gulcasa. Put all of your units in formation, use Gravity Chaos if you can, and then hit him with everything.

Battle Field 33

Battle Preparations:

You?ll be using Yggdra here; heal up and go.

The Battle:

The space under the top-left corner of the battle field contains an item. After you get it, attack the Golem. When you?re done with both Golems, you can find a Forbidden Fruit at the bottom right corner of the battle field (at the end of that path). Your Morale is restored constantly here, so make sure that you finish Rosary or Roswell whenever your Morale is highest, not damaged. That?s all there is to this battle.

Battle Field 34

Battle Preparations:

Nothing to be done; Yggdra?s Morale ought to be fine. Select your cards and go.

The Battle:

Aegina attacks you; she is very upset and you will lose. On your next turn, activate the Crusade skill you must use. That is all. The battle is won.

Battle Field 35

Battle Preparations:

Choose whomever you would like; only Yggdra and Milanor are necessary. But whatever you do, make sure that you select the Crusade card. Restore your Morale to at least fifty or sixty percent.

The Battle:

This battle is one of those that will require you to attack and receive damage to trigger the next phase. Especially annoying is the fact that the cannon that bears down on your is not nearly as bad as the Knights, who are completely invincible unless the Crusade skill is used (that is to say, once). Send out Yggdra and put Milanor in formation with her, making sure no one else is. Attack with Crusade and activate the skill whenever you get a chance; never bother going to aggressive mode, only Crusade can do anything but facilitate a swift suicide. Use Milanor to take the strain off of Yggdra and build up the battle bar for her instant use. Unfortunately, you?re going to need no less than three of these attacks (six if you include the enemy?s counterattacks) to trigger the next phase. No, that?s not good at all. Try to spread out the damage to keep anyone from dying. Once you?ve lasted long enough, the phase ends.

Now you can escape, but there seems to be a sizeable contingent of enemy forces blocking your way. The first thing you?ll want to do is to get out of the Knights?s attack range and then out of the cannon?s line of fire. Once you?re free, send Milanor after the Ambushers (use Gravity Chaos). Be very careful; if any of your units falls, you lose the battle. Rally your troops at the target points and the battle is won.

Battle Field 36

Battle Preparations:

There is a very good chance you?re going to be doing some heavy Morale healing. Do what must be done and go back into battle. Choose your most expendable characters and your high move cards. This is going to be a battle of attrition you don?t want to participate in.

The Battle:

Move Milanor and Elena onto their target points (the two flags on the left), then begin to move the rest of the allied units towards theirs. Don?t engage any enemy units and they won?t bother you; try not to fall under the cannon?s range until absolutely necessary. Be aware of how you arrange your remaining units on the four flags: the three on the left will be exposed to some of the most brutal counterattacks yet; place the weakest next to the Knight. Once all of your units are in place the phase ends.

Once again, it?s time to stall. Move Elena and Milanor every chance you get and use strong cards to avoid taking extraneous damage. Elena and Milanor can only move at night, however, which leaves a lot of time to take damage. Truly, the simplest way to not get demolished is to let the character next to the Knight die; he does not step forward, and will not attack you after the allied character next to him is gone. Proceed as normal, sitting through a shower of cannon fire. When the pair arrives at its destination, the battle is won (though considering the damage you?ve likely sustained this is not necessarily the most appropriate assessment).

Battle Field 37

Battle Preparations:

After that last battle, this one is a bit of a reprieve. Your choices are nonexistent as far as characters are concerned, but grab a couple of cards with high move and at least two with your highest attack. Obviously, you?ll always want cards with high power and high move.

The Battle:

Move swiftly and keep Milanor in front; first use a card with six moves, then ten, then eight or nine. Suddenly, Zilva?s force appears. Wipe her out as quickly as possible, and the phase ends.

Now that your cards are restored, use only cards with low move and low power to get both units onto their target points (Milanor first, as always). You can also find an item a space below the ?Secret Gate? if you check there first.

When the next phase begins, use a card with high power and move and quickly get Milanor to his enemies. He should be strong enough to blast right through them, but if you hesitate even for a turn there will not be enough time to do so. Step on the space where the Knight was standing and the battle is over.

Battle Field 38

Battle Preparations:

You will need Durant, and if you still have the Knight Killer, equip it on him now. You can use a large number of cards for this battle, so simply decide on the best from your experience (Revolution, Crusade, Ace Guard, Gravity Chaos, and Chariot should be necessities from here on out if they haven?t already been).

The Battle:

Use Revolution and send Durant out to attack the three Valkyries; they should go down without much of a fight. Once this is done, place all of your units on the seven spaces in front of the closed gate. Once they are together, the phase ends.

Your next target is Emilia. I?m sure you?re sick of the cannon bearing down on you, so the faster you finish her the faster you will have access to Eudy and your revenge. Step on the space where Emilia stood and the gate opens up. Quickly send your bow users after Eudy and her other Court Magicians (with strong cards; you can?t risk not finishing Eudy in two turns). You can find a Holey Dud to the right of where she was standing, if you like. Once this is done, send Durant in to clear out the Fencers and clean up Baldus using Milanor. His allies don?t fall under his formation and for some reason never move in to help him, so simply have Milanor target Baldus targetly and the rest of the battle should be incredibly simple.

Battle Field 39

Battle Preparations:

Take with you Durant and your mage. Milanor is really all you need, but these two will provide enemy-specific support. Equip the Grand Cross on Durant if you can. If not do so at the earliest possible chance.

The Battle:

Bring out Durant to take care of the Fencers. Once this is done, send Milanor in for the kill. Make time to go to the top right corner of the Battle Field to find an Item Manual. Baldus is going to be difficult because he uses Ace Guard and has a maxed out attack stat. Only put allies into your formations if you know that can damage him well and never attack unless all of the allies who can do this damage are in your formation (i.e. allies who can defeat him even if he puts up an Ace Guard barrier). Baldus also restores his Morale every time his turn comes up.

To defeat him, pick your strongest card (preferably Ace Guard) and end your turn. Baldus will restore his Morale and attack; defeating him is the initial damage hit. On the next turn use your next strongest card (or a card with a guaranteed win, such as Crusade) and finish Baldus. When he falls, so does the Fortress of Ishnad.

Battle Field 40

Battle Preparations:

This next battle is a simple one. Restore Durant?s and Milanor?s Morale if necessary.

The Battle:

Move up and confront the Knight with Milanor; he should make quick work of two or more units. Bring Durant up to assist and finish the rest of the enemy units on your next turn. Stand where Monica stood and the phase is completed. The next phase is essentially the same as the first, only Emilia slowly flies over to assist your enemies. Don?t let her. Send Milanor in; at this point he should have maxed stats and should easily make quick work of anyone, Fencer or otherwise. You can find an item in the center village, too, just don?t visit the village on the upper left: the blacksmith there will take a weapon and reforge it into a useless Blunt Sword. Just keep hitting hard and using your best cards. Victory is assured. Just step on the Fort to seize it.

Battle Field 41

Battle Preparations:

You will get to use all of your cards for this battle (you should have all of the cards in the game by this point, which total 30). Bring Cruz and be sure to get Milanor?s Morale to at least 50%.

The Battle:

Just like in sand, you will only be able to move one space at a time in swamp; the only difference is that swamp will reduce your Morale every turn. Hit hard and fast with Milanor to get through the swamp as soon as possible; your allies will offer their support by standing in his formation (they begin standing the spaces to do this). Follow Milanor with Cruz, for the Griffon riders do not wait to approach. Their cards are stronger than what you?ve come against so far (a power of 3500), so a loss after being drained from the swamps means almost certain death. Never use a weak card and never give the enemy a chance to win in a skirmish. When Emilia and the remaining villagers are defeated, the battle is won.

Battle Field 42

Battle Preparations:

Guess what: another cannon. Keep your Morale high; you?re in the home stretch of the game. Only take characters that are expendable and already have low Morale. You?re going to be fighting dragons and a cannon stronger than any one before.

The Battle:

The Knights you see here restore their Morale every turn, so your only choice is to kill them outright. Pull out Yggdra using Crusade and step next to an Imperial Knight. Defeat them like you did Baldus: end your turn and defeat them on their counterattack; then pull Yggdra back and finish them with Milanor. Before this happens, the double Ankh cannon will fire and hurt you immensely. There is nothing to be done; keep hitting (gently, don?t waste your good cards) and don?t let up. If you move your units into the spaces where your enemies stood, you can avoid the cannon fire. You can?t finish the Witch, so just keep ending your turn until Kylier shows up and ends your troubles.

Once the cannon has been dealt with, use your best cards to finish the soldiers. Gulcasa shows his cowardice and flees. The battle is won.

Battle Field 43

Battle Preparations:

Your units are probably hurting rather badly after that cannon, so restore your Morale to at least 50% and charge into battle. Bring Durant.

The Battle:

Your goal is actually not to kill both Valkyries, but only one. Pick your target and send everything at it. Luciana is in a better position for Milanor to reach, so it is recommended that she become the target. Once Luciana is defeated, Aegina retreats and your cards are restored. Follow her in without mercy. There are no fancy tricks or strategies; just hit enemy units hard. You might take a little damage from a cannon that Aegina breaks out, but Milanor and Durant should be able to handle anything. However, make extra, extra certain that the last card you use is your strongest; it will be the first card your are forced to use at the beginning of the next battle.

Battle Field 44

Battle Preparations:

It?s time to put Gulcasa down; restore the Morale of your strongest characters to 75%, equip them well, and get ready for the fight of a lifetime. And bring your mage.

The Battle:

Your target is Gulcasa. Gulcasa, who seems to have gotten a hold of another cannon. If this has not annoyed you thus far, it will now. The enemy?s turn is first and he attacks in full force. Gulcasa will probably get off Genocide; this is as dangerous as ever. Yggdra has an advantage on every space, don?t be afraid to use it. Gulcasa won?t attack directly; he?ll just keep hitting you with cannon fire; get out of the cannon?s range. Luckily, Gulcasa will not restore his Morale, so hit him hard and use every ally who is not weak to his attacks. If you can get off a Gravity Chaos to slow him down that would make things much, much easier. Dragon Killer can also be useful. For whatever reason, Gulcasa?s allies begin to pull out after a few turns; take advantage of this wavering loyalty to defeat him.

But it won?t be that easy. Gulcasa retreats for the moment and Aegina appears wielding yet another cannon. You will have two turns to get to her before Gulcasa returns to continue his onslaught, so make good use of the time. Send Durant after the Valkyries and keep Milanor out for the Dragon Knights to attack. Until the Aegina dies, you?ll be using your cards to attack with Durant and defend with Milanor. Keep that in mind when choosing them at the beginning of every turn. Save the cards that will be useful for Gulcasa himself.

When Aegina falls Gulcasa begins to retreat. There?s a good chance a large amount of Knights are standing in your way; just stall. When Gulcasa reaches his destination, they all vanish and you are faced with his awakened form. You will have to go to him, however. You?ll need to pull a Baldus again and use a strong card to end your turn and follow up with another hit to finish off Gulcasa; don?t use Gravity Chaos (he is immune to status effects). Have Milanor take point and support with Yggdra and your mage. With a little luck (i.e. few or no critical hits on your characters) he should go down. The battle is over. For now.

Battle Field 45

Battle Preparations:

Don?t bother restoring Morale unless you really feel like it; this next one is a brief one. Just put some good equipment on, choose your three best cards, and go to town.

The Battle:

This is very simple: choose your best card, put all of your allies in formation, and attack. Crusade is particularly useful. Either way, you will either kill Gulcasa outright or he and his 7500 power card will make short work of you. When he falls, the war is over. But the battle has just begun. Okay, the battle is almost over, too.

Battle Field 46

Battle Preparations:

This battle is a joke. Restore your Morale and begin.

The Battle:

Kylier will never attack you; you must attack her, and she puts up no fight whatsoever. You can probably finish this one in a single turn, too. If you don?t, just do it the next. This battle ends quickly.

Battle Field 47

Battle Preparations:

This going to be your last real fight, so use any healing items you have to make this battle go as smoothly as possible.

The Battle:

With full Morale, maxed out characters, and beefed up cards, this shouldn?t be much of a battle. Wipe the floor with Nessiah?s companions to get him alone then execute Crusade with great prejudice. Between Milanor and Yggdra, Nessiah?s as good as done.

Battle Field 48

Battle Preparations:

If you are feeling defiant, make absolutely certain that the Morale of your chosen characters is maxed and that you bring along Crusade.

The Battle:

Move Yggdra down to the bottom space and Marietta speaks. You now have a choice. You can take Yggdra back up to the Fortress at the top of the Battle Field and seal the Gran Centurio forever. You can also go down to face Marietta in combat. If you choose the latter, be ready for a long fight. Attack her once to enter another battle phase, but do not use Crusade. In order to defeat her, you must Crusade when she is weakest, which means you need to use all of your allies in a single formation to attack her repeatedly. She has about 20,000 Morale that decreases continuously across skirmishes. When it falls below 9999 you can view it by viewing her stats (hold the B Button over her). When she hits 1 Morale, use Crusade and finish her. Whatever your choice, enjoy a well-deserved ending.
