TIPS AND TRICKS
STARTING UP
Buy a small lot and build a small house with only the essentials: bed, shower, toilet, fridge, stove.
Most people spend practically their entire Sim life in other people’s lots, either making money or building skills. This is the best way to go in the beginning, since the busy lots will always have the means for you to satisfy your Sim’s needs without having to leave their property.
PROPERTY UPKEEPING
If you are a busy property owner, hire a maid and/or gardener to take care of the tedious tasks of making beds, taking out the trash or watering the plants.
You or your roommates can hire a handyman to repair broken objects if neither of you has the time or the skills to fix them. The repairman will start by fixing your most expensive objects and continue until all in the lot is fixed.
Ask your visitors to clean up after themselves. Everything is so much easier when each person flushes after using the toilet, cleans the shower after using it or does the dishes after eating. A cletidy place will prevent the Room factor from dropping.
Place some signs with basic rules at the entrance to your home or in specific places in the house. It’s a good way to keep your visitors informed and to discretely ask them to behave.
For a higher room score, place objects outdoors: whatever you place outside your home will count towards a single huge room score. So build some balconies or a large terrace, and have some under-the-moonlight moneymaking sessions. High room scores will keep Sims happier and their needs will decrease a little slower.
GREENING UP
A good way to green up is starting with the need that is lower. If your energy is reaching a critical state, eat something then go to sleep. While you sleep, comfort and energy will be taken care of. When you wake up, use the toilet and have a shower.
If you’re going to be working on your skills or making money, don’t worry about the social factor too much; being in a room full of people is an attenuating factor.
The best ways to take care of your Sim’s needs are:
- Hunger – eat a home cooked meal or an entrée from the buffet
- Hygiene – have a bath or a shower (shower is quicker)
- Energy and Comfort – two birds with one stone, sleep on a comfy bed
- Fun – Play a game of pool with someone (helps with social factor if you play with someone else)
- Social – ask someone to do a bench press
- Bladder – use the toilet
- Room – have a tidy and well decorated place
The good news is while you’re offline, your Sims needs will fill up gradually by themselves.
FASTER SIMOLEONS
Choose your skills wisely. Completing a job on certain job objects is faster than on others. For instance, painting a portrait is faster than writing a novel. Solving a problem on the chalkboard takes longer than making a potion.
| Skill Needed | Object | Time to Complete |
| Body | Piñata | 4’45” |
| Charisma | Telemarketing phone | 4’15” |
| Cooking | Preserves maker | 4’30” |
| Creativity | Easel | 3’45” |
| Logic | Potion table | 4’00” |
| Mechanical | Gnome workbench | 3’45” |
