JOBS AND CAREERS
Finding a job in The Sims Online is just like finding a job in the offline version: you can check the daily newspaper for any open positions or you can look it up on your computer. Once you have found a job that suits you, you will be given a message with your job title and shift schedule.

When you accept your new job, you will know when the car pool will pick you up. If you happen to miss your ride to work, you can use the phone to call a cab to take you there. You can also use the phone to quit your current job (if only life was that easy!). You will retain your old job’s title so you can always go back to it later on. Job titles will now show in your profile (click on the wrench icon) and you can also find out which will be your next title after a promotion by clicking the question mark icon.
The innovation in TSO jobs is that not only you play with other people at your working place, but you also interact with NPC’s.
TIP 1: Remember that your car pool arrives an hour before your shift starts, so start greening up in advance. There are no means to improve your sim’s mood once you start your shift, and no one is able to work if they’re tired, hungry and in a bad mood. Your mood will also affect that promotion you’ve been wanting for so long.
TIP 2: If during your shifts you find lazy coworkers who just go afk during work hours, add them to your ignore list. You won’t ever find yourself in the same lot with a person on your ignore list, and they also won’t be able to arrive to a working site where you are.
TIP 3: You can join your friends at their workstations by using the “Where am I?” button on the sim profile page and going to the same lot, unless they have Privacy on.
PROMOTIONS AND DEMOTIONS
Being promoted to attain a new job grade will depend on your work experience, skill levels and accumulated friendships.
There are four conditions that you need to fulfill in order to be promoted:
- Finishing your shift in an average good mood;
- Having the required amount of working experience;
- Having the required number of friends;
- Improving your skill to the required level.
Once your Sim meets the required factors, he or she will receive a message by the end of their shift announcing their promotion.
As you progress in the career of your choice, you will see your carpool, uniform and place of work change and improve. The factories will go from a low-tech rusty environment to a futuristic sci-fi like facility, while the diners will progress from casual cafeteria to classy restaurant.
