CRAFTING
Crafting could be considered the TSO tradeskill. It’s a way to recycle old furniture and objects and transform them into new things that don’t exist in the regular Buy Mode catalog.

In order to craft, you will need a Thumbhammer Workbench, available in the catalog for 50,000 simoleons (100,000 in hardcore cities) under the Job and Skill Objects category. The workbench can only be used in lots classified under the Skills category.
Aside from the workbench, you will need components to work with. Crafting things will require a certain amount of these. There are three types of components: boxes of wood, boxes of cloth and boxes of spare parts.

You can obtain these by salvaging items in your lot, but don’t go around destroying good furniture and turning it into piles of rubbish just to get some parts out of it.
Wood usually comes from tables and chairs. Sofas and paintings can be salvaged into cloth. Parts are obtained from appliances and electronic items. The more expensive and older an object is, the more parts you will salvage from it.
Not every salvaging attempt will give you components, but if you do get some, you will get a message stating how many of each type did you get.

Remember to green up before you decide to craft. To begin crafting something, click on the workbench. The pie menu will offer you several options for things you can make. An object successfully crafted will have your name in its description: “Crafted by…” you!
Crafting something isn’t free though. It will cost you components and Simoleons. There are also skill requirements for the different objects. Not meeting the required skills means your chances of crafting that object will be a lot lower. Check the table below to see what you will need for each object.
